Are you religious?
Hello again friends today I wanted to share my opinion on religions, church and faith in God with you.
I was raised in the family who look at the religion more like on family tradition so I didn't know a lot about it and I didn't think about it. But recently somebody asked me do I believe in God am I religious and I didn't know what to say. So it's been one of my biggest dilemmas in last couple of months.
I already said that I didn't know much about it so I was reading a lot and I was talking to a lot of people who knew more than me so I could make a decision and have an opinion about it. And what were confusing to me is the fact that there is a lot of different religions but there is only one God. And what I think now is that it's a cultural thing. Meaning if you are born in this culture you will be this religion and if you are born in that culture you that other religion. So I don't see the point of so many different religions except the tradition part.
And my knowledge about church life and why is church important were minimal. Because of that I decided that I'm going to talk to priest about it. He told me this very compelling story that church is house of God and that we come there to become closer to other believers. Then I asked why do I see more and more priests talking about political issues that have nothing to do with religion and he said that they are trying to help their people. I then asked why is there division between Catholic and Orthodox Church or Christian and Islamic religion and he said I can't give you an answer and then I asked is it the product of political events and he said that I'm too young to understand. And that made me think about church really begin this political institution which has great power and money and I didn't see how God and these things can go together. So then I read a lot about can I be a believer if I don't go and believe in church and majority of the answers were no. They were saying that I need to go to church to "achieve unity with God" and I tought that's ridiculous because I taught that I'm always in unit with God if I truly believe. But again I understand why would some people go to church I just think it's not for me.
So now after all the stuff I read and learn about religion I can say that I don't believe in any kind of religion and I don't believe in church. If you would ask me do I think that there is something greater than us I would say yes. And I don't think that anyone can say do this or that or don't do this or that to be in unity with it. If you are good person if you help others in tough times and you don't think you are better than anyone else you will do well in life and after life (is there is after life).
P.S. I'm not trying to offend anyone this is just my opinion and I'm not saying it's the only truth. It's just the way I think right now and maybe I will think differently in couple of years. I don't know. Now it is what it is and lets just leave it there.
